Quality Assurance System

Quality Assurance System

Since 2010, the TQEM team has remained focused on promoting continuous quality improvements to inculcate good teamwork culture and to improve the overall performance. TQEM is now replaced with the Sustainability team. The quality audit programmes implemented since 2010, continue to be implemented with the main objective being to highlight the independent findings and to recommend measures for improvements at the estate and milling operations.

Health & Safety (OHSAS 18001)

The safety and health of our employees are paramount towards the efficiency and profitability of the company. This policy is also reflected onto our contractors and communities as our ultimate aim is to achieve zero harm.

Safety, health management systems and programmes are established at the HQ and divisional levels for accident prevention, continuous improvement of systems and improving our competency. We adopt external certification schemes, such as the Occupational Health & Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS 18001) to strengthen our management systems. We provide support to our line managers by providing relevant training such as Environmental, Safety & Health (ESH) competency and certification programmes. We also ensure that the scope and effectiveness of the ESH management system at the estates and mills are maintained through engagement sessions, as well as regular workplace safety walkabouts to manage key risks and competencies.

Since 2009, we have devised comprehensive programmes to improve occupational health and safety standards at the workplace, in full compliance with the statutory requirements. Our Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) management programmes are designed to generate better work practices, inculcate a safety culture, as well as providing a more conducive & safer working environment within our organisation. In 2010, the Pictorial Safety and Health Guidelines was launched towards achieving zero fatality rate and further reducing worksite accidents. It also looked into the six critical areas of safety at the estates and mills. This includes adequacy of warning signages, personal protection equipment, transportation safety, 5S practices of good house-keeping, good chemical storage, pre-mixing standards & emergency facilities, as well as proper documentation of OSH records for easy reference.
